An English person or person of English ancestry. Back when we went to the World Cup in South Africa, we saw many anglos waving English flags. -
(Southwestern US, informal, sometimes offensive) a North American, especially a white one (regardless of actual ethnicity), whose native language is English (as opposed to Americans who have another native language). I'm not an anglo: my grandparents are from Lithuania. -
(Australia, informal) an Anglo-Australian (as opposed to Australians of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern background). -
(Canada, informal) an English-speaking Quebecer. -
A white-skinned person. -
(nonstandard) A British person or person of British ancestry.
