Etymology

From Wolof banaana, via Spanish or Portuguese, of unknown origin, but potentially from Arabic بَنَان (banān, “fingertip”). The racial slur derives from the notion that they are "yellow (East Asian) on the outside, white (Westernized) on the inside".
