Borrowed from Hindustani चाट / چاٹ (cāṭ) (tasting, a delicacy), from چاٹنا (cāṭnā) / चाटना (cāṭnā, “to lick”), from Prakrit चट्टेइ (caṭṭei) (to devour with relish, eat noisily).
