1. Archaic form of fizz.

1. Archaic form of fizz.
   When the contents of the papers are dissolved in separate portions of water and the two solutions are then mixed, there results a “fizzy” mixture which is not hard to take. The “fiz” is due to the carbon dioxide (the chief substance desired). 1930, American Journal of Pharmacy, volume 102, page 26
