From shit + -y. Cognate with German Low German schittig (“dirty, shitty”), German Scheißig (“shitty”).

1. (vulgar, colloquial) Very bad; unpleasant; miserable; insignificant.

5. (informal, vulgar) Of low quality or standard; inferior; not up to par, or failing one's expectations
