From Middle English unwerked, unwerched, equivalent to un- + worked. Doublet of unwrought.

   For years there stood in the sculptor's studio a two-ton block of unworked Italian marble.
2. (archaeology) Describing an unaltered material found associated with human tool-making or other cultural activity.
   Dozens of unworked obsidian cobbles were found buried with the deceased.
